Vinted Users Voice Anger Regarding Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Changes
Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
